The open design and exciting features encourage kids to play together, enhancing their social skills and practicing sharing, storytelling, and so many more valuable skills as they play.

Why Play with a Play Kitchen?

Creativity + Role Play

Pretend play gets kids engaged in storytelling as they act out new scenarios and communicate what imaginary things are going on – a great way to flex creativity and language skills!

Physical + Motor Skills

Play kitchens present kids with so many ways to practice their motor skills, like grasping and using small accessories and utensils, opening and closing doors, and turning oven knobs.

Language + Social Skills

Role playing requires kids to engage in storytelling as they make up scenarios and communicate with others about what role they’re playing. They also have to react and build off of what the other person said or did.

Critical Thinking

Running into problems while playing, like trouble closing the refrigerator door when too many items are placed inside or trying to swivel the faucet over a full sink, allow children to think through problems and craft solutions.

Play Together!

  • Restaurant Role Play: Be a customer in your child’s own restaurant! Let them tell you what is on the menu and place your order. Make sure to ask them lots of questions as they get cooking and give special requests to encourage their critical thinking.
  • Make sharing the clean-up responsibilities fun with your little one. Pretend washing and putting dishes away when playtime is over will help foster good habits, show an example of teamwork, and a bonus in motor skill development!
  • Playing with a Step2 pretend play kitchen? Pair it with one of our table and chair sets to complete your child’s mini restaurant! Our favorites include the Step2 Junior Chic 3-Piece Furniture Set and the Step2 3-Piece Farmhouse Table & Bench Set.
  • Cooking Show: Give your little chef 5 minutes to prep their favorite pretend meal and think out how to present it to you. Create a mini cooking show by taking video of them recreating their pretend dish, talking you through each step so you can make it too! Continue the pretend play by making “episodes” of the cooking show to watch with family and friends.
  • Expanded Vocabulary: Add labels to things in the kitchen playset so that your child can get accustomed to connecting real-life items with words. Teach new nouns like “oven”, “cabinet”, “plate”, and “drawer”. Later, advance to practicing the spelling of these everyday items with your little one!

    Perfect play kitchen
I purchased this kitchen last Christmas for my older son (had just turned 2 at the time) and am writing this review 9 months later. This kitchen is wonderful. My almost 3 year old and almost 1 year old LOVE it. They both play with it multiple times a day. Originally the baby played with it (at around 6 months) by pulling all of the food out of the multiple drawers and cabinets. He then learned it was also fun to put the play food back in the cabinets. He progressed to learning to put other household items in there. Now at 1, he mimics what his big brother does and loves to put his sippy cup in the fridge. My almost 3 year old has started to make me meals, learned to serve said meals on plates, and pretends to do the dishes. This lets them make up their own games and grow at their own pace, which I love watching. It is amazing to see their little minds work. Here is a little list of important features and pros/cons:Pros and cool features:-Light above sink is perfect for a 2 year old who isn't into imaginative play yet... they still like lights!-Microwave, oven and stove top make sounds - stove top has lights and sizzles (one of the burners only)-Color scheme is adorable and looks nice in my house-Phone attached is a favorite of both of my kids - my older son "call daddy tell him food time" haha-Has a lot of storage -silverware drawer, 2 upper cabinets, large lower cabinet, 2 drawers-Has a recycling bin- we recycle a lot so that's a cute feature- also happens to be where we store the pots/pans-Refrigerator and oven are pretty bigCons: -As others noted, the oven door doesn't stay shut well. It's not a big deal really. I suggest a piece of velcro or one of those pads that go on the bottom of dining chairs. Anything to help the side touch better so it stays in place. It was a 10 second job to fix it.-Assembly is a beast, but it is with any of these toys. I don't think it was any more difficult than any others. Maybe easier actually.-I wish the sink made noiseMy kids are 40-50% for height and they both can reach everything just fine. It is a great size for them. I added pictures to show this.

This has so many features of a real kitchen. The sound of cooking a light and all the cabinet space & drawers. It's taller than most play kitchen sets so the little ones will be able to play with it longer. My granddaughter loves it. She's 22 months and plays often with it throughout the day.

This may be the most adorable little play kitchen ever!! I absolutely love it and so does my little girl! I don't know how many kitchens I looked at before I decided on this one but it was A LOT! I wanted something that would be nice to look at since it would be in my living room and have plenty of storage for the dishes and food. This kitchen had everything that I was looking for. My daughter fell in love with it the moment that she saw it! She loves how there are so many working components (although to her it's just 'cool stuff'). The pots and pans are see through so that you can see the burner on the stove come on. The silverware drawer is a cool addition to this kitchenette. I don't recall ever seeing one in a play kitchen before and still haven't seen one since. I love how there are so many drawers and cabinets too. That makes for quick clean up. Out of sight, out of mind!! It's also a nice touch to have the little recycling bin too! Got to be eco-friendly even at a young age! My daughter loves this little kitchen so much. She even goes over to the sink and pretends to wash her hands! The only dislikes I have about this kitchen is that the oven door and the two small white upper cabinets do not stay closed. This can be fixed by velcro. I just don't think I should have to modify something that I spent this much money on. Over all though, I still love this kitchen!

My 2 year old son LOVES this kitchen. My husband (who likes to think he's progressive, but when it comes to his sons' toys has some room to grow) was a little skeptical at first. But he couldn't deny how much our son was entertained by this (he gets so sucked in that I can finally make our family's dinner in a bit of peace), and we both appreciated the non-girly look that fits into our actual home decor. The price was fair, and assembly was pretty straightforward. The only (very minor) annoyances were that the parts that needed batteries didn't all use the same type (you'll need AAs for a few parts and AAAs for a couple others), and of course those wonderful decals that come with any similar type of toy. So far he has been entertained by the small variety of food that came with it (he's particularly enamored with a hamburger patty that he refers to as a "cookie", which he carries around everywhere...but that's a different story lol!), though I might need to buy a separate food set if he starts to get bored. We've had this kitchen for a couple months, and while the original obsession has worn off, he still plays with it almost daily, and it has been sturdy enough to hold up to his abuse.

The kitchen is great! My 1.5 year old loves it. It did not come with stickers in the box, and when I contacted Amazon they would need to me either send the whole kitchen back or they could reimburse me some money, they were great to deal with as well. I ordered the stickers through Step2 it’s self and they were great and sent them ASAP.
