This commentary is indespensable. The Doctrine and Covenants Made Easier was given to me by a senior missionary couple who found it most helpfull as well. It gives a basic but thorough introduction to the Doctrine and Covenants. I was first puzzled about the book wondering why I needed to read something written by a scholar. But this was not I found in the back that these books were written by a patriarch who worked as a cirriculum writer for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This set of books will enlighten most who desire to understand further the Doctrine and Covenants of the LDS church.

I would have missed most, if not all, of what was being presented in the D&C had I not had this study guide. It was so helpful.

Our Church started teaching Doctrine and Covenants classes. I was having difficult time understanding many of the verses in most of the sections. This book provided comments, background information, and doctrine explanations in many of the sections and verses. These comments, background information, and doctrine explanations made the book easier to understand. This book is an excellent one.

It was very helpful to us as my wife & I read it together. Many things were cleared up in our understanding of the revelations received by the Prophet. A renewed respect for the great many brethren who completed many important tasks in contributing to the restoration of the Gospel. Brother Ridges has certainly put a lot of effort to help us understand! We have now completed several of Brother Ridges books..
THANKS!

I love David Ridges books with the series "made easier". I have them all now: Old Testament, Isaiah, New Testament, Book of Mormon, and the Doctrine and Covenants series. I would HIGHLY recommend these to anyone!!

It is evident that much study and time was put into the production of this book. I am grateful for people like David J. Ridges who have dedicated their lives to the study of the scriptures and then share their insights with us. Great read!

This series helps explain doctrine and scripture, in common modern language. Sometimes the format, style, and language used when scripture or history was recorded in times past can be confusing. It has been very helpful and enlightening.

4.0 out of 5 stars Opening the Doors to understanding LDS Doctrine
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 8, 2012
Having read the previous two books in this series in paperback version I was curious as to how the e-version would cope with the text and commentary together. It was totally different in layout but flawless. The author allows the reader to understand the doctrine at a deeper level and clarifies some historical circumstances in a helpful way. The commentary is clear and concise.
It may not be suitable for the serious scriptural scholar who has already delved into doctrine and church history and is probably better suited to the new serious seeker.
Having said that, there were a few insights that were truly inspired.
